Good evening everyone and thank you for checking out our page! Basketball season has quickly come and gone and what a fun experience that was! We has 24 women register to become Valkyries for the 2023 Basketball season which meant we would have enough to support 2 teams!
Some awesome ladies at tryouts, before teams were picked.
We split into 2 teams - Valkyries White & Valkyries Black and practiced until our official fundraiser on October 29th! Our expectations were not very high for attendance, after all it was our first year and who know if the word ever gets out, but what do you know? We had 157 people come watch our first ever, Basketball Tournament! And look at all the teams that came out and participated....
We had women from all over Lake Stevens! Valkyries Black, Valkyries White and the Lake Queens, along with the Stanwood Spartans and the Hawks Mamas from Tulalip! It was a fun filled FULL day! These ladies played 8+ hours of basketball! It was a wild ride for sure. Something we will definitely be tweaking and doing again in the future!

Also, a huge shout out of THANKS to Lake Stevens Lacrosse for hosting Krispy Kreme donut sales, 50/50 and a raffle basket! Thank you to Katie Rickman for representing CHEER at her Viking Swag booth! Thank you Lake Stevens youth football players for manning the scoreboards and clocks! And last but not least, a HUGE SHOUT OUT OF THANKS to all our refs that made the tournament happen. Without you, we would not have had a successful day, games or event. We appreciate all of you and from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU, WE LOVE YOU!
Basketball was a wonderful new event bringing in new girls that wanted to be a part of Valkyries but unsure of being constantly hit on the football field. This was an adventure with lots of growing pains, lessons learned and fun that we had. It will happen again for sure!
